Deoxygenated blood from the body enters the heart through the superior and inferior vena cava.

This blood is then directed into the right atrium, the first chamber of the heart.

The right atrium contracts and pushes the blood into the right ventricle through the tricuspid valve, which prevents backflow of blood.

The right ventricle then contracts, pushing the blood into the pulmonary artery through the pulmonary valve. The pulmonary artery carries the blood to the lungs.

In the lungs, the blood gets oxygenated and is carried back to the heart via the pulmonary veins.

The oxygenated blood enters the left atrium, the third chamber of the heart.

The left atrium contracts and pushes the blood into the left ventricle through the mitral valve.
