Solution

To conduct an experiment to determine which ink is the same as the ink from the banknote, you can use a method called chromatography. Here are the steps:

  1. Label four different strips of chromatography paper with the names of the four different inks.

  2. Draw a line near the bottom of each strip using the corresponding ink.

  3. Prepare a beaker with a solvent (like alcohol or water) that is known to dissolve the inks. The level of the solvent should be lower than the line of ink on the paper.

  4. Hang the strips in the beaker making sure the ink lines are not submerged in the solvent. You can use a pencil or a stick to hang them.

  5. Wait for the solvent to rise up the paper by capillary action. As it passes through the ink line, it will carry the ink with it.

  6. Once the solvent has almost reached the top of the paper, remove the strips and let them dry.

  7. Observe the patterns formed by the ink on each strip. The ink that has the same pattern as the ink from the banknote is the same ink.

Here is a simple diagram to illustrate the process:

|------------------------| <- Top of the beaker
| |
| Strip 1 Strip 2 Strip 3 Strip 4
| | | | |
| | | | |
|------------------------| <- Solvent level
| |
|------------------------| <- Bottom of the beaker

Each strip is hanging in the beaker with the line of ink above the solvent level. As the solvent rises up the paper, it will carry the ink with it, creating a unique pattern for each ink.
