Solution

Women have two X chromosomes. If a gene linked to the X chromosome is recessive, it means that the trait it codes for will only be expressed if both copies of the gene (one on each X chromosome) carry the mutation. If only one X chromosome carries the mutation, the other normal X chromosome will compensate for it, and the disorder will not be expressed. This is why women, who have two X chromosomes, are less likely to express X-linked recessive disorders compared to men, who have only one X chromosome.
