Solution

The Lok Sabha, or House of the People, is the lower house of India's bicameral Parliament, with the upper house being the Rajya Sabha. Members of the Lok Sabha are elected by adult universal suffrage and a first-past-the-post system to represent their respective constituencies, and they hold their seats for five years or until the body is dissolved by the President on the advice of the council of ministers.

The Lok Sabha has a maximum strength of 552 members. 530 members to represent the States, 20 members to represent the Union Territories, and 2 members to be nominated by the President from the Anglo-Indian Community. In the case of Anglo-Indian Community, the President can nominate 2 members, if he/she is of the opinion that the community is not adequately represented in the Lok Sabha.

To secure a majority in the Lok Sabha, a party or coalition would need a minimum of 272 seats (more than half of the total 543 seats that are up for election). This would ensure that the party or coalition has the majority of the voting power and can pass legislation without the support of other parties.
