Solution

  1. Leaves: The main function of a leaf is to carry out photosynthesis, which is the process of converting light energy, usually from the sun, into chemical energy in the form of glucose or other sugars. Leaves are also responsible for transpiration, or the loss of water vapor from the plant, and gas exchange, taking in carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.

  2. Stem: The stem supports the plant, holding up the leaves, flowers and fruits and keeping them in the sunlight. It also serves as a conduit, providing passage for water, nutrients and sugars to travel throughout the plant.

  3. Roots: Roots anchor the plant in the ground and absorb water and nutrients from the soil. They also store food and nutrients for the plant. Some roots are adapted for modified functions like support, storage of food and vegetative reproduction.
