Question
Briefly discuss the historical events that took place as a result of the Aboriginal Act 1909 (70 words).
Solution
The Aboriginal Act 1909 led to significant changes in the lives of Aboriginal people in Australia. The Act gave the government control over where Aboriginal people could live and work, and even who they could marry. This resulted in the forced removal of many Aboriginal children from their families, known as the Stolen Generations. The Act also led to the loss of Aboriginal lands and culture, effects of which are still felt today.
