The Consumer Guarantees Act covers a wide range of goods and services that are typically purchased for personal, domestic or household use. Here are the types of products and services covered:

1. Goods: This includes physical products like electronics, appliances, clothing, and cars. It also covers second-hand goods purchased from a dealer and goods bought on hire purchase.

2. Services: This includes services like repairs, maintenance, and services provided by professionals such as lawyers, architects, and builders.

3. Online Products and Services: The Act also covers goods and services bought online from an Australian business.

4. Gifts: If a product is given as a gift, the recipient of the gift has the same rights as the person who purchased it.

5. Sale Items: Goods on sale are also covered by the Act. The fact that they were on sale does not exclude them from the guarantees.

6. Leased or Rented Goods: These are also covered by the Act.

Please note that the Act does not cover goods bought from private sellers, goods bought at auctions where the auctioneer is acting as an agent for the owner, and contracts for the transportation or storage of goods.
