Solution

Chewang Norphel is an Indian civil engineer from the Ladakh region. He is known for his innovative work in creating artificial glaciers. Norphel realized that he could create a sort of artificial glacier that would store the excess water from the winter months and slowly release it in the spring and summer, when farmers most needed it. He has built over 15 artificial glaciers in Ladakh and has earned the nickname "Ice Man of India". He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2015 for his pioneering work.
