Solution

i) Excretion is the process by which waste products of metabolism are eliminated from the body. This could include substances like carbon dioxide, sweat, urine, etc.

ii) Receptors are specialized cells that detect changes in the environment (stimuli) and send signals to the brain or spinal cord. Examples include photoreceptors in the eyes for light, and thermoreceptors in the skin for temperature. Effectors are parts of the body (like muscles or glands) that receive signals from the brain or spinal cord to carry out a response.

iii) The three main components of urine are water, urea, and salts.

iv) The function of the bladder is to store urine until it can be excreted from the body. It expands and contracts as it fills and empties.

v) The renal pyramids of the human kidney are cone-shaped.

vi) The three parts of the human brain are the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brainstem.

vii) Two functions of the peripheral nervous system are to connect the central nervous system (CNS) to the limbs and organs and to relay information between the CNS and the rest of the body.
