Solution

My character will be a middle-aged woman named Martha. She is a single mother who works as a nurse in a local hospital. Today, she is at home, sitting alone in her small, dimly lit kitchen. The only sound is the ticking of the old wall clock and the occasional whirring of the refrigerator.

Martha has just received a letter from her son's school. He has been awarded a full scholarship to a prestigious university. She reads the letter again and again, her eyes welling up with tears. She feels a surge of pride swelling within her. All those years of struggle, of working double shifts, and of making sacrifices, have finally paid off.

Martha picks up a picture of her son from the table, tracing the outline of his face with her fingers. "We did it, my boy," she whispers to the picture, a proud smile spreading across her face. She can't wait to share the news with her son when he comes home from school.
