Solution

The fall of the Byzantine Empire was not a political effect of the rise of the Mongol Empire. While the Mongols did have significant impacts on many empires and dynasties, the Byzantine Empire was primarily weakened and eventually fell due to the Fourth Crusade in 1204, well before the height of the Mongol Empire in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. The Abbasid Dynasty, Song Dynasty, and Kievan Rus, on the other hand, were all significantly affected by the Mongol conquests.
