HOW DID THE PHARISES TREAT JESUS? HOW DID THEY QUESTION HIM?

The Pharisees, a religious group in the New Testament, often treated Jesus with skepticism and hostility. They were known for their strict adherence to the Mosaic Law and often questioned Jesus' teachings and actions, which they perceived as challenging their authority and interpretation of the law.

1. Questioning His Authority: The Pharisees often questioned Jesus' authority. For instance, in Mark 2:6-7, they questioned Jesus' authority to forgive sins. They believed that only God could forgive sins, and by claiming this authority, Jesus was, in their view, committing blasphemy.

2. Questioning His Observance of the Sabbath: The Pharisees also questioned Jesus about His observance of the Sabbath. In Mark 3:1-6, they watched Jesus closely to see if He would heal a man with a withered hand on the Sabbath, which they considered to be work and therefore a violation of the Sabbath.

3. Questioning His Association with Sinners: The Pharisees also criticized Jesus for associating with sinners and tax collectors, which they considered to be socially and religiously unacceptable. In Luke 5:30, they questioned Jesus' disciples, asking, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"

4. Testing Him with Tricky Questions: The Pharisees often tried to trap Jesus with tricky questions. For example, in Matthew 22:15-22, they asked Him whether it was lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, hoping to trap Him into saying something they could use against Him.

In all these instances, Jesus responded with wisdom and authority, often using parables to illustrate His points and expose the hypocrisy and self-righteousness of the Pharisees.
