  2. Tubular Reabsorption: The glomerular filtrate then moves into the proximal convoluted tubule, where most of the glucose, amino acids, and ions are reabsorbed back into the blood. This process is called tubular reabsorption. The filtrate then moves into the loop of Henle, where more water and sodium ions are reabsorbed. The filtrate continues into the distal convoluted tubule, where further reabsorption of water and ions occurs.

  3. Tubular Secretion: In the distal convoluted tubule and the collecting duct, certain substances such as hydrogen ions, potassium ions, and certain drugs are actively secreted out of the blood and into the filtrate. This process is called tubular secretion. The filtrate, now called urine, contains waste products such as urea, excess water, and ions.

The urine then flows into the renal pelvis and is transported to the bladder via the ureters, where it is stored until it is excreted from the body through the urethra.
