Solution

The Korean name "Choson" is derived from the "Gojoseon" which is the first Korean kingdom, known as the "Land of the Morning Calm". This name was later used during the Joseon Dynasty. In the North Korean standard language, "Joseon" is the name of the country (officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) and "Choson" is used in South Korea in contexts such as the "Choson Dynasty" - the last dynasty of Korea which lasted from 1392 to 1897.
