TOPIC OF YOUR APPLIED ESSAYDrawing from the classical organisational (management) theories that we have covered in this subject, and using the focal firm, Misakyan Technical Solutions (MTS) as the context, write an applied essay that addresses the main proposition that theory XYZ (your chosen theory) is a valid (or not) framework to explain the success (or failure) of an organisation.  In other words, you will use a theory to explain some specific situations or conditions at MTS that either: enabled the focal organisation to be successful (be good at what it does) contributed to its failure (not good at what it does)This is an applied essay that requires you to explore the following:Illustrate the relevance of one (1) organisational theory (SMT or BMT) given its associated key principles, concepts or elements to explain the situation and dynamics within the focal firm.If the chosen theory has numerous elements or principles, you may want to focus on a manageable number (of elements or principles) that you would like to apply and explore in your essay. For example, if you think there is enough room to focus on 3-4 elements of a theory, feel free to make the decision and explore these elements deeply in your essay.  Identify and explore specific situations or instances (i.e. examples) from the case (of the focal organisation) that may illustrate the elements or principles of the chosen theory.Explain how the elements or principles enabled the organisation's top management to identify and understand organisational problems, challenges or opportunities towards improving organisational performance.Evaluate the limitations or weaknesses of the chosen organisational theory in understanding the evolution, growth and prospects of the focal firm.Reflect on the importance of organisational theories in general and your chosen organisational theory in particular in framing your understanding of organisations (i.e. your reflection).In the assessment clinic session, the lecturer/tutor will give you some examples to help you develop the structure of your applied essay, given the theory you chose to apply in the context of the focal organisation.The topic above will challenge your capability to understand and apply an organisational theory to a specific context. The case (describing the focal firm) presents a wide range of situations you can use to demonstrate your understanding and critical analysis of an organisational theory.      In using the case of the focal firm as the context of your essay, you are allowed to make assumptions to support the arguments that you will include in your essay.
