The term Technical education is also accompanied with the term Vocational education and they two are used sometimes. In this section, we will discuss the nature of the two types of education, their significance, and their in the Indian context. Institutions offering technical education like the IITs, teach the theory and science the occupation, while vocational institutions, like the ITIs, adopt a more hands-on approach to impart the skills needed to do the job successfully. The completion of programmes/courses at the technical colleges/institutes results in a bachelor's or a master’s degree.
