Solution

Freytag's Pyramid, developed by 19th-century German novelist Gustav Freytag, breaks a drama into five parts, which Freytag lists in order of their occurrence in time:

  1. Exposition: This is the introduction where the setting, characters, and basic situation are revealed.

  2. Rising Action: This part of the story begins to develop the conflict(s). A building of interest or suspense occurs here.

  3. Climax: This is the turning point of the story. Usually the main character comes face to face with a conflict. The main character will change in some way.

  4. Falling Action: All of the action which follows the climax. This is where the events and complications begin to resolve themselves.

  5. Denouement (Resolution): The final outcome or untangling of events in the story. It's where everything is made clear and the story is wrapped up.
