Solution

The position of Amit from the left end is 8th and from the right end is 3rd. This means there are 7 people to the left of Amit and 2 people to the right of him.

So, the total number of boys and girls in the row would be the sum of the people to the left of Amit, the people to the right of Amit, and Amit himself.

Therefore, the total number of boys and girls in the row is 7 (left of Amit) + 1 (Amit) + 2 (right of Amit) = 10.
