3G network consists of the followings Network Elements…a.S-GWb.RNCc.P-GWd.HSS

The 3G network consists of the following network elements:

a. S-GW: The Serving Gateway (S-GW) acts as a router, sending data packets between the base station and the PDN Gateway. In the context of a 3G network, it would be responsible for routing data packets to and from the mobile device.

b. RNC: The Radio Network Controller (RNC) is a governing element in the UMTS radio access network (UTRAN) and is responsible for controlling the Node B's (a component that is equivalent to the base transceiver station in GSM systems) responsible for tasks such as radio resource management, handover decisions, etc.

c. P-GW: The PDN Gateway (P-GW) acts as a router as well, forwarding data packets between the S-GW and the internet. It also allocates IP addresses to the user equipment (UE) and enforces policy controls.

d. HSS: The Home Subscriber Server (HSS) is a database that contains user-related and subscription-related information. It plays a key role in managing the calls/messages of a subscriber.

These elements work together to provide connectivity and various services to the user in a 3G network.
