Solution

The range resolution of a radar system can be calculated using the formula:

Range Resolution = c * Pulse Width / 2

where:

  • c is the speed of light (3 x 10^8 m/s)
  • Pulse Width is the duration of the pulse (3μsec = 3 x 10^-6 s)

Substituting the given values into the formula:

Range Resolution = 3 x 10^8 m/s * 3 x 10^-6 s / 2 Range Resolution = 450 m

So, the range resolution of the synthetic aperture radar is 450m.
