Solution

  1. Support: As plants grow taller, they need to develop structures that can support their weight. This is why trees have thick, woody trunks and why many plants have a system of roots that spread out to provide a stable base. Without these adaptations, a tall plant would simply fall over.

  2. Transportation of Nutrients and Water: Another challenge that tall plants face is the transportation of water and nutrients from the roots to the upper parts of the plant. This is achieved through a system of vessels and tubes, similar to our own circulatory system. The taller the plant, the more difficult it is to transport these essential substances against gravity. This is why many tall trees have evolved to have a system of vessels that can transport water and nutrients efficiently.
