Solution

The cochlea is a spiral-shaped structure in the inner ear that converts pressure waves, or sound vibrations, into neural signals. When sound waves enter the cochlea, they cause the fluid inside to move, which in turn causes tiny hair cells called cilia to bend. This bending of the cilia triggers the release of neurotransmitters, which then stimulate the auditory nerve fibers to send electrical signals to the brain, where they are interpreted as sound.
