Subject: Reflections and Gratitude for the 6-Footstep Learning Journey 1: The Present and the Local

Dear Team at The Open Canopy (formerly Out of Eden Learn),

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my profound gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the 6-Footstep Learning Journey 1: The Present and the Local. This experience has been both enlightening and transformative, and I am eager to share my reflections with you.

My greatest takeaway from this journey has been the ability to view my local environment through a new lens. The activities and discussions encouraged me to delve deeper into the history, culture, and dynamics of my local community, fostering a newfound appreciation and understanding. I was particularly moved by the emphasis on storytelling as a means of connecting with others and sharing our unique perspectives.

The Open Canopy platform itself was a joy to navigate. Its user-friendly interface, coupled with the rich content and interactive elements, made the learning process engaging and enjoyable. I was particularly impressed by the diversity of resources available, catering to different learning styles and interests.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all those who have made this journey possible. Your dedication and passion for education are evident in every aspect of the program. I am also grateful for the online community that I had the privilege to interact with. The exchange of ideas and experiences has been a source of inspiration and learning.

In conclusion, the 6-Footstep Learning Journey has been a truly enriching experience. I look forward to continuing my learning journey with The Open Canopy and am excited to see what future programs will bring.

Thank you once again for this incredible opportunity.

The Outdoors Students Association (OSA) is a group of students from different localuniversities who are very passionate about outdoor recreational activities which are organisedregularly throughout the year. OSA specialises in organising and managing Hiking, Camping,Windsurfing and Rock-climbing trips for students (nature enthusiasts). Trips are run on aregular monthly basis, and each month, instructors (coaches) volunteer to lead the plannedtrips to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely whilst still ensuring participants gainlearning and enjoyment from the outdoors experience. The “Student Leaders” team of the OSA have been organising the outdoor trips informally formany years and are now looking to make it more formal and organised, which will be auditableand overseen by the Student Affairs Committee. They have agreed on a set of policies andguidelines, and to ensure that the processes work properly, they have decided to commissiona new digital system – OutdoorStudents. The Student Leaders want the OutdoorStudents system to automate the process of assigninginstructors, so that volunteers can have advance notice of when they are participating in a trip, where the trip will be held, and the role that they will play there (lead Instructor or AssistantInstructor etc...). This will combine calendaring and scheduling with a mechanism for advancenotice of unavailability and messaging to find a substitute instructor. The OutdoorStudentssystem will have a central secure database and will be accessible through the web and mobiledevices by the Student Leaders, Student Affairs Committee, participants and the volunteers.OutdoorStudents needs to maintain information about the volunteers, including whether theyhave had training in their specialty outdoor activity, have qualifications or licenses (if needed)for leading trips, and have a current first aid certificate. Of course, it also needs to keep trackof the various trips to be run throughout the year.OutdoorStudents should send out text messages a week before a planned trip, and remindermessages the day before and the morning of the trip. Ideally it should enable a call on a GPSsystem (such as Google Maps) to show where the start point gathering is being held and howto get there. If a scheduled Instructor is unavailable for a trip, she or he will be able to send anotification to OutdoorStudents, which will then call on remaining volunteers to assign asubstitute.3a) List the stakeholders for the proposed OutdoorStudents system, and in each caseexplain what their interest in the system is.b) List and briefly describe the functional requirements for the system as identified in thedescription.c) Using the FURPS+ categories, identify and briefly describe several non-functionalrequirements for OutdoorStudents. Address all of the categories (URPS+): if youconsider that any of them are irrelevant, explain why.
