Hierarchy of Sri Lankan court

The hierarchy of Sri Lankan courts is as follows:

1. Supreme Court: The Supreme Court is the highest court in Sri Lanka. It has the ultimate judicial power in the country and is responsible for interpreting the constitution. It also has the power to hear appeals from lower courts.

2. Court of Appeal: The Court of Appeal is the second highest court in the country. It hears appeals from the High Courts and other lower courts and tribunals.

3. High Court: The High Court is the first instance court for serious criminal offences and also has appellate jurisdiction over the decisions of the Magistrate's Court and other lower courts.

4. District Court: The District Court has jurisdiction over civil matters. It also has appellate jurisdiction over the decisions of the Primary Court.

5. Magistrate's Court: The Magistrate's Court has jurisdiction over criminal matters. It is the first instance court for most criminal cases.

6. Primary Court: The Primary Court has jurisdiction over minor civil and criminal matters.

This is the general structure of the court system in Sri Lanka. However, there are also several specialized courts and tribunals that deal with specific types of cases, such as the Commercial High Court, the Labour Tribunal, and the Board of Quazis (which deals with matters related to Muslim personal law).
