Structural and Behavioral Adaptations of a Lion:

1. Structural Adaptations:

   • Lions have a strong, compact body and powerful forelegs, teeth and jaws for pulling down and killing prey. Their bodies are built to hunt.
   • The color of a lion's coat allows it to blend in with the savannah grasses, an excellent camouflage for stalking prey.
   • They have a tufted tail which helps them communicate with each other while hunting. The tuft at the end of the tail is also used to signal to other members of the pride.
   • Lions have a rough tongue that helps them to peel the skin of their prey away from the flesh and to clean the meat off bones.

2. Behavioral Adaptations:

   • Lions are social animals. They live in groups called prides, which consist of related females and their cubs, along with a small number of adult males. This social structure helps them to hunt more effectively.
   • They are territorial animals, often roaring to warn intruders and mark their territory.
   • Lions are primarily nocturnal and many of their hunting activities take place at night.
   • They have a specific way of communicating with each other. They use a combination of roaring, body language and marking their territory to communicate.
